Pear & Hazelnut Pie Takes Top Prize!
Oregon Growers’ very own Stephanie Halici won Best Pear Pie in the 7th annual EAT DESSERT FIRST, Gorge Grown Fruit Dessert Baking Contest! At the October 3rd event, her Pear and Hazelnut Pie with Hazelnut Crust won her the top price in the Pear Pie category, by using fresh pears from McCurdy Farms and Oregon Growers & Shippers Roasted Hazelnuts.
The fundraiser was presented by Soroptimist International of Hood River to benefit Helping Hands against Violence and The Women’s Shelter. The contest also helps promote the Columbia River Gorge’s delicious fruit and their growers by allowing the contestants to only use locally grown fruit in their entries.
